Adding songs to a show

Once a show exists — whether you started empty, built it from a folder, or loaded a package from the server — you can add more songs at any time. ShowPlayer supports adding individual songs and adding multiple songs in one batch.

Adding one song

For a single audio file — a new number a director just sent over, a replacement track, a song you forgot — see Adding a new song. Tap + in the playlist, pick the audio file, save.

Adding many songs at once

For a folder of audio files — bulk-importing the whole act of a musical, all of a revue's numbers, every track for a new production — use the folder import in the + flow. ShowPlayer creates one song per file in a single batch. Same flow as Creating a new show from a folder, but adding to an existing show instead of starting fresh.

Notes

  • Files are copied. The audio is copied into the show package on the device — moving or renaming the original folder doesn't affect the show.
  • Where audio can come from. Files and folders can be picked from anywhere the device's file browser can reach — on-device storage, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or any other location that appears in the Files app on iOS/iPadOS or in the file dialogs on Mac.
  • Order matters during import. Files are added in alphabetical order. Number-prefix your filenames if you want them to land in a specific playlist order.
  • You can add scenes too. Most shows mix songs and scenes. After importing songs, drop scenes between them for dialogue moments and mic state changes. See Adding a new scene.
